JHS Thrift Store Closure
Effective March 19, the JHS Thrift Store is closed. The building is scheduled to undergo a deep cleaning and corrective action to address an ongoing rodent problem. The Jacksonville Humane Society will continue to accept donations of pet related items, blankets, and towels at the shelter facility warehouse at 8464 Beach Boulevard. JHS is recommending that other items be donated to their partners at First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP) so that animals may continue to benefit from the community’s generosity. FCNMHP is located at 6721 Norwood Avenue, Jacksonville.
Campaign for a Compassionate CommunityThe Campaign for a Compassionate Community was publicly announced on February 12, at the Jacksonville Humane Society. This campaign will focus on raising monies to build the new JHS Humane Care and Education Center, to replace the facilities destroyed in the 2007 fire. To make a donation as part of the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver $100,000 challenge grant, select Capital Campaign on the JHS donation page to make your gift. How the challenge works: The Weavers will match your donations until $100,000 is reached. For example: If you make a give of $50, the Weavers will gift another $50 until the $100,000 is reached.
