The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) has created this Privacy Policy to explain why we collect particular information and how we will protect your personal privacy within our Web site. What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information

Our registration forms require users to give us contact information that may include name, e-mail address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. We do not collect any personally identifiable information about you unless you voluntarily submit such information to us, by, for example, making a donation or filling out a registration form. The types of information that may be requested include your name, address, email address, and telephone number to respond to a specific request for further information. Your information may be used to contact you when necessary. Please refer to the paragraph entitled Opt Out for further details. We will not share your e-mail address with any other organization. We do not request or store sensitive information from our visitors, social security numbers. Credit card numbers are required for online donations and transactions. Credit card numbers are not stored.

Requesting information

Users of JHS websites may e-mail us to request information. Our staff may collect e-mail addresses and names in order to fulfill requests. We collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us by e-mail.

Surveys & Contests

From time-to-time our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and address), and demographic information (such as age). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of JHS’s Web sites, programs and services.

Internet Protocol Address

We collect an IP address from all visitors to our Site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, track users' movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Use of "Cookies"

Our Site may use cookies to enhance your experience while using our Site. Cookies are pieces of information that some Web sites transfer to the computer that is browsing these sites and are used for record-keeping purposes at many Web sites. Security

All information provided to JHS is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our Site that is only accessible by JHS. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

Sharing

Referral programs. JHS participates in several referral programs such as our arrangement with Flowerpetal.com. Through these programs our Web site users have the opportunity to purchase products that generate royalties for JHS. When such purchases are made, the user becomes a customer of the company providing the product and is then subject to the policies of that company JHS does not collect personally identifiable information about users in these transactions, however the affiliate company may choose to share customer lists back with JHS. These lists are entered into our member/donor database.

Partnership programs. JHS retains third party vendors to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use personal information for any secondary purposes.

Our Site contains links to other Web sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another Web site for which JHS has no responsibility. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on all such sites as their policies may be different than ours.
