Did you know that in addition to caring for nearly 8,000 animals in our shelter every year, the JHS Pet Food Pantry distributes more than 170,000 lbs of pet food to families in need each year? In partnership with Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, our Pet Food Pantry serves seniors, community members with disabilities, Veterans, and families in crisis.

Sometimes the only difference between keeping a pet in their home and out of the shelter is one meal. With your help, we can keep best friends together and save space in our shelter for animals who are lost, abandoned, or neglected.

You can help support these families and the animals at JHS by hosting a donation drive for JHS!

Hosting a donation drive for JHS is easy:

  • Download our Donation Drive Toolkit, including flyers to help encourage folks to contribute and lists of our most-needed items.
  • If you have a large donation, give our team a heads-up by emailing [email protected]
  • Drop off your items at JHS and know that you helped save lives in your community!

You can drop off donations at JHS 7 days a week during operating hours (12 p.m. – 7 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on weekends). Thank you for your generosity!

Your donated items help us provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the animals in our care.

To ensure the best possible conditions for our pets, we’re only able to accept items that are new or gently used and in clean, usable condition.

Items that are worn, dirty, damaged, or soiled cannot be used at our facility.

Because of the large number of donations we receive, we’re not able to redistribute these items ourselves. However, we’ve partnered with Goodwill of Northeast Florida for weekly pickups of items we cannot use, and any remaining items will be disposed of responsibly.

If you are looking for an outlet for those types of donations, here is a helpful alternative.

Thank you for understanding and for helping us keep our animals healthy and happy!
