The Jacksonville Humane Society provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals.
Meet our October Spokespet of the Month: Benny! Benny was a runner-up in our sixth annual Jacksonville’s Cutest Pet Contest.
“Benny was adopted as a baby. He was born January 22, 2025, with four siblings. He is a rambunctious, funny little guy. He knows how to give kisses and hugs. I love him so much!” – Benny’s family

At the Jacksonville Humane Society, we have a lot to be thankful for, and it starts with the people who make our work possible. Our Thank-a-Thon is underway as we take time to celebrate our supporters and share a message that can never be said enough: thank you. Every day, your generosity makes a difference…
We’re inviting young artists in grades K-12 to help us create a bookmark that celebrates the joy of reading and the special bond between people and animals!
