Every pet deserves to feel loved and safe in a home of their own. This summer, the Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is partnering with PetSmart Charities® for National Adoption Week to help more pets find loving families.

Late spring and summer mark the height of “kitten season,” a time when animal shelters see a significant increase in newborn kittens and nursing cats who need care. As shelters work to provide for these vulnerable animals, adult cats, dogs, puppies and other pets may also find themselves waiting longer to be adopted.

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week helps shine a spotlight on pets of all ages, sizes and personalities who are ready to meet their new families. JHS will be at PetSmart Southside on July 25 and 26, giving the Jacksonville community another opportunity to meet adoptable pets outside of the shelter.

Visitors can spend time with adoptable pets, learn more about their personalities and speak with JHS staff to find an animal who may be a great addition to their home and lifestyle.

Adopting a pet not only changes the life of the animal you bring home, but also creates space and resources for shelters to continue helping other pets in need. Summer is one of the busiest times of year for animal shelters, making adoption an impactful way to support pets throughout the community.
