It’s official. We’ve run out of kitten names.
As hundreds of kittens continue making their way through the doors of the Jacksonville Humane Society during kitten season, our naming creativity may have officially hit its limit. Some of our recent picks were met with tiny hisses, dramatic stares, and even a few playful swats at their kennel cards. One kitten even seemed determined to stage a jailbreak after seeing the name we gave them.
To be fair- we can’t really blame them.
That’s why we’re kicking off June with our Be a Feline Friend campaign, and we need your help! Throughout the month, community supporters can donate $5 or more to give one of our kittens a brand-new name.
Not only will you save these kittens from names like “Fluffy” or “Orange Cat #3,” but your donation will also help provide lifesaving care for the thousands of kittens who arrive at JHS during the busiest time of year.
And the best part? Donations made during Be a Feline Friend will be matched up to $50,000, meaning your impact goes twice as far for kittens in need.
So if you’ve ever dreamed of naming a kitten, now’s your chance to leave your mark on kitten season at JHS. We can’t wait to see the creative, funny, and adorable names our community comes up with.
