JHS is thrilled to share that we were recently awarded a generous grant of $25,000 from Florida Animal Friend to support our targeted Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return (TNVR) efforts throughout the Jacksonville area.
This funding will make it possible for us to perform 625 additional community cat spay and neuter surgeries to prevent the birth of thousands of kittens and improve the lives of animals in our city.
Florida Animal Friend is the organization behind the popular specialty “Spay & Neuter” license plate available for vehicles in Florida. We know you’ve seen it on the road!

For every Florida Animal Friend license plate purchased or renewed, $25 funds annual grants – just like this one – given to clinics and organizations in Florida that offer spay and neuter services. Since 2005, Florida Animal Friend has provided over $8.8 million in grants to enhance the impact of spay and neuter programs across the state and further their mission of saving “the lives of countless wanted cats and dogs.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Florida Animal Friend for their continued commitment to lifesaving initiatives across Florida,” said Lawrence Nicolas, CEO of the Jacksonville Humane Society. “This grant allows our team to focus on areas of our community where overpopulation is most critical, ultimately making a lasting impact on the animals and the community who care for them.”
