Jacksonville Humane Society Spotlighted in National, Emmy-Award Winning PBS Program “Shelter Me”

The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is featured in an upcoming episode of Shelter Me, an Emmy Award-winning PBS TV program that shares heartwarming stories about animals and the people who love them. JHS is featured in Season 2, Episode 5 of the series, titled “Good Deeds.” The episode will air on WJCT, Jacksonville’s local PBS channel, at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12.

Hosted by Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth, this heartwarming episode features an uplifting event celebrating National Volunteer Week. The episode showcases children in JHS’s Pawsitive Reading program reading Kristin’s new book “What Will I Do With My Love Today?” to the pets at the shelter, military volunteers in JHS’s Troops & Tails program working with pets, as well as other volunteer programs at JHS.

“We are grateful that JHS was chosen to showcase the dedication of our volunteers through this special episode of Shelter Me,” said Denise Deisler, JHS CEO. “There are many ways each and every one of us can help animals in our community and support pets and the people who love them. Thank you to Steven Latham for directing and producing this episode, and to Shelter Me, Petco Love, Jax PBS, and Kristin Chenoweth for spreading this message of love and encouraging folks to get involved with their local animal shelter.”

Shelter Me is made possible in part by support from Petco Love, a life-changing nonprofit organization that makes communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since 1999, Petco Love has invested $330 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts.

“Good Deeds” will air on WJCT, Jacksonville’s local PBS channel, at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, and will be available to stream at https://www.wjct.org/jaxpbs/watchlive/.
