The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is teaming up with Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket to ensure that no pet goes hungry in honor of National Pet Month this May and inviting the community to help.
For every donation of pet food made to the Jacksonville Humane Society from May 1 to May 31, Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket will match the donation with an in-kind gift of up to $5,000 in pet food and supplies. Donations will help supply the JHS community pet food bank that distributes more than 110,000 lbs. of dog and cat food annually to pet parents in need.
JHS has a comprehensive pet retention program that supports pet owners in crisis by providing free and low-cost veterinary care, behavior support, pet supplies, and emergency boarding. Pet food is one of the most needed items for these families.
“Providing support to families is an important part of our mission,” said JHS CEO Denise Deisler. “Pets are family members and we are here to help keep dogs and cats healthy, happy and at home with the people who love them, and that is only possible thanks to help from our amazing community and generous friends at Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket.”
“We know families can struggle at times to feed their four-legged loved ones, and we want to help them worry less about providing for the pets they love and care for,” said North Florida Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket Region Vice President Shawn Sloan. “Our continued partnership with the Jacksonville Humane Society gives us the opportunity to fill pet bowls and kitchen pantries with nutritious foods and essentials to ensure health and well-being of the whole family.”
