The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is teaming up with Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket to ensure that no pet goes hungry in honor of National Pet Month this May and inviting the community to help.
For every donation of pet food made to the Jacksonville Humane Society from May 1 to May 31, 2022, Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket will match the donation with an in-kind gift of pet food or supplies, up to $5,000. Donations will help supply the JHS community pet food bank that distributes more than 150,000 lbs. of dog and cat food annually to pet parents in need.
JHS has a comprehensive pet retention program that supports pet parents in crisis by providing free and low-cost veterinary care, behavior support, pet supplies, and emergency boarding. Pet food is one of the most frequent requests for support. The pet food bank runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jacksonville Humane Society’s Beach Boulevard location.
“Providing support to families is an important part of our mission,” said JHS CEO Denise Deisler. “Pets are family members and we are here to help keep dogs and cats healthy, happy and at home with the people who love them, and that is only possible thanks to help from our amazing community and our generous friends at Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket.”
“At Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket, we are dedicated to supporting all members of our community, including our four-legged friends, and ensuring no one goes hungry,” said Shawn Sloan, Regional Vice President for Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket. “The support the Jacksonville Humane Society provides to First Coast animals is unmatched and we are honored to support their mission during National Pet Month.”
Donations should be brought directly to the Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32216. For a complete list of items, view our wishlist.
